Plans For A New Facility
The Big Pet Project will give us the opportunity to better meet the needs of our community through an increased capacity of an estimated 300 animals and the incorporation of a community education center. Our history of providing quality comprehensive spay/neuter services to the community is one example of our leadership and commitment to our mission. With this new facility, we will increase our spay/neuter services to further address the root cause of the problem of animal overpopulation.
The new facility will be built on four acres of land in Lebanon purchased thanks to a generous grant from the Patricia and Edward J. McGavock Humane Treatment of Animals Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. It will provide more sheltering space for animals in our care, a basic-service veterinary clinic, and a community education center.
The impact of a new facility is twofold:
- The ability to better serve our community
- The expansion of our service in order to meet current and growing demand
About New Leash on Life:
New Leash on Life (NLOL) is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in our community through shelter, placement, spay/neuter services, education and awareness. The organization was formed in July 1978 under the original name of the Humane Association of Wilson County. In October 1978, we became incorporated, and our 501(c)(3) status was granted on May 28, 1980. In July 1983, we opened our current adoption center. Find out what makes NLOL unique.
